i am so sad to be back in the states. i absolutely adored stockholm and cannot wait to go back. i'd like to move there but of course that would require research which of course requires effort which requires motivation and non-laziness. i'll figure something out though. if ryan adams, a fellow american, can purchase a place in stockholm, there's no reason why i can't as well. and i had such a blast with jon - i don't think i've ever met someone as lazy as me but i did and it's great. and now there are certain songs i'll always associate with his apartment: wise up, anything by the tough alliance, and lights. all of his friends were absolutely amazing too. everyone made me feel welcome and for that i will forever be grateful.
ellinor - sweetest girl, and not afraid to tell me my swedish pronunciation sucks. i respect that! and holding my hand in the bar on my last night was one of the nicest gestures ever. she is someone i'd love to get to know better.
becky - her depiction of a well dressed viking was hilarious, as was the paintshopped drawing of us from my first night there. she even added my freckles. such a nice girl.
fredrik - not only was it wonderful to meet him that first sunday, but the following wednesday night was a blast. cigarettes on the balcony, beers at the pub, and discussions on the sofa about americans and politics, which i cannot clearly remember and which was hopefully somewhat interesting to him? especially coming from an american who talks out of her liberal ass when she knows 1%-10% of the details of any given political situation.
karin och david - i met them separately but each were very sweet and warm and lovely to talk with. and they have one of the cutest babies i have ever seen.
helena - unbelievably hospitable, my fellow toalett (sp?) buddy, who kindly allowed us to crash at her place, made us a pasta dinner at 3am, followed by ice cream, cookies, coffee with kahlua (and ice cream and chocolate sauce and candy sprinkles because can i ever have plain coffee? no, it must be dessert and sickeningly sweet. love it). she also let me borrow her slippers when i was freezing on her balcony and gave me a tour of her beautiful apartment.
jossan - also warm and welcoming and incredibly nice. i had a great time chatting with her in her apartment which was also beautiful.
klara - it was so nice to meet her! seems so charming and peppad (again, my swedish words are probably wrong but hopefully not terribly incorrect).
johan och siri - it was lovely seeing johan again. he seriously cracks me up. i love hearing his LA stories and he tells them with such enthusiasm. it's great. and next time i'll play up the americanness and when he points out another alley, i'll say 'oh my GOD, i LOVE it!'. i had really been looking forward to meeting siri as well, so that was wonderful to finally get to do so. she was so pleasant - and quiet! adorable girl.
i started with ellinor and i'm finishing with her again - really enjoyed meeting her and though we didn't get to know each other that well seeing as we only hung out on 2 occasions, she seems like someone i really would get along with. on my next trip, i look forward to spending more time with her.
stockholm was a fascinating experience. and although i'm sure everyone hates coming back from holiday, i'm hating being in LA. oh wait, i think i already said that.
